TOP TEN LDN | 10 mins | 2013

Funded by British Film Institute & European Cultural Foundation as part of the BFI Doc/Next Media Lab, 2012. An experimental short film featuring ten scenes from ten Londoners told in ten minutes. Carnivalesque creatures, ancestral songstresses and future inventors, the film situates the epic alongside the everyday and celebrates the diversity of London's inhabitants. The film adds to new representation of London, by spotlighting and juxtaposing diverse scenes, celebrating the resistance and resilience of the people who had migrated from all over the world to make a life here. I wanted to challenge the dominant value systems by situating these acts as the β€˜top’, as worth our recognition and attention.

Acquired by London Live Television for broadcast 2014. Film festival selections and screenings include: Sheffield Doc / Fest - Short Doc Award Nominee 2013, Margaret Mead Film Festival 2013, Co-Operative Film Festival 2013, Portobello Film Festival 2013.
